What hardware components make up a ctrlX system?

ctrlX features a modular system design that offers you maximum flexibility in system configuration.

The compact ctrlX CORE control unit is the central hardware module of the ctrlX system. In the CORE X3 version, it has three Ethernet ports, offering a wide range of connection options.

Input and output signals are processed by ctrlX analogue I/O modules, which are integrated into the system via EtherCAT bus couplers. Thanks to the modular design, the modules can also be used remotely if required and positioned flexibly in the field independently of the main controller.

Open operating system and flexible function expansion

The ctrlX OS operating system forms the heart of the ctrlX ecosystem and can be used independently of manufacturers, for example with controllers from Wago. Support for over 30 communication protocols enables simple and versatile machine networking.

The functionality of the controller can be flexibly expanded or adapted to your specific requirements using apps.

These expansion options allow many control functions to be implemented with just a single piece of hardware. This eliminates the need for separate devices, saving you space in the control cabinet and reducing costs.

For example, you can use an app to enable additional communication channels – for example, for using a gateway to connect different fieldbus systems or an industrial router for secure remote access.

Programming freedom thanks to comprehensive language support

The flexibility of the system is also evident in its programming: in addition to all common PLC languages , modern high-level languages such as Python, Java and Node-RED are also supported. This makes ctrlX suitable for both classic automation tasks and data-based applications in the Industry 4.0 environment.

User-friendly visualisation and operation thanks to modern HMI solutions

Advanced ctrlLX Web panels are available for easy operation and clear visualisation.

They support multi-touch operation with up to ten fingers and feature anti-glare, hardened front glass for optimum visibility and maximum durability in industrial use.
