Datasensing: the fusion of experience and innovation

Datasensing is an Italian manufacturer that came about as a result of the acquisition of M. D. Micro Detectors by Datalogic. Within the scope of this acquisition, the sensor technology portfolios of the two globally renowned and experienced companies were hived off and are now distributed independently under the Datasensing brand.

Although the merger to form Datasensing took place in 2022, the comprehensive wealth of experience of the founding companies stretches back much further than that. Sensor specialist M.D. Micro Detectors was founded way back in 1971. The following year, Datalogic was founded and established itself as an expert in automatic data acquisition and optoelectronics.

Datasensing focuses on the development and production of sensors, optical sensors, and safety technology. Consequently, former M.D. Micro Detectors and Datalogic sensors will in future be marketed under the Datasensing brand. All that is changing here is the label, while the proven quality remains the same.

Therefore, the company is not starting over from the ground up, but rather benefits from an established product range and a sound foundation of more than 100 patents. The manufacturer distributes its products not just in Italy, but also internationally, with sales activities in Europe, China, and the USA.

Specialist engineers in research and development centre guarantee exceptional product quality on a continuous basis. Quality management is ensured by means of the ISO 45001 Occupational health and safety management system (2022) and ISO 14001 Environmental management system (2023).

Datasensing products in the Automation24 online shop

For instance, inductive sensors are available in different sizes: M8, M12, and M18, with flush and projecting thread types. The sensors have sensing ranges of up to 12 mm and switching frequencies of up to 5,000 Hz and, thanks to their IP67 protection rating they are suitable for all basic applications with low requirements.

In addition, you will also find capacitive sensors that are available in rectangular or cylindrical versions, in M18 and M30 sizes, with flush or non-flush threads. They can be programmed as normally-open and normally-closed contacts. The sensors with IP67 or IP67/IP68/IP69K protection ratings are ideal for detecting metals as well as a multitude of plastics, glass, ceramics, wood, and paper materials .

From the photoelectric sensors category, you can purchase particularly affordable reflex photoelectric sensors from the S100 series for confined installation situations. These are characterised by their cubic design and physically robust connectors. What's more, the products from the S100 family also feature a light-on/dark-on mode and optional background suppression or a polarising filter.

For ultra-precise detection tasks, you also have the option to go for high-quality S3N laser photoelectric sensors, available at competitive prices.

This product range also includes a selection of contrast scanning devices, which, thanks to their high switching frequencies, are ideally suited for the detection of print marks. This functionality proves extremely useful, especially for the precise cutting of packaging. Here, on the one hand, you will find the standard TL50 model for basic applications without separate requirements, and on the other hand, the TLµ version, which is intended for challenging applications on account of its robust metal enclosure.

Finally, with the S5N model, a contrast scanning device is also available in a cylindrical M18 design with thread, which enables greater mounting flexibility.

In addition to photoelectric sensors, the Automation24 product range also includes light grids. You can choose between three sizes of measuring light grids from the DS1 series, which are used for the detection of object heights, and the AS1 light grids for the detection of flat objects up to 0.2 x 75 mm and cylindrical objects up to Ø 6 mm, with a protective field height of 100 mm.

In addition, the Datasensing product ranges includes 2D sensors from Datalogic, such as the LGS2 Lidar navigation scanner for the control of driverless transport systems (DTS), which has a 360° scan radius and can be configured via webserver.

For quality control tasks, you have the Smart-VS sensor, which can compare actual statuses with stored Good/Bad images, which can be easily learned in advance by means of pushbuttons or a webserver. While the Smart-VS version has a response time of 50 ms and can store 6 images, the Smart-VS+ version that is also available has a response time of 20 ms and storage capacity for 20 images.

In addition, Datasensing safety photoelectric sensors in single-beam versions are also available in the safety technology category. Here you will find compatible and safety-compliant transmitter and receiver designs, thus ensuring safe position control.

In the Safety technology category, Automation24 also offers Type 4-SG4 BASE safety light curtains, which have been especially developed with a resolution of 14 mm for finger protection, or alternatively with a resolution of 30 mm for hand protection. These safety light curtains have a range of up to 19 m and a protection field height ranging from 150 mm to 1,050 mm.

For personal protection, you can go for the SG4 multi-beam safety photoelectric sensors with 2 to 4 beams. These light barriers are available with a protection field height ranging from 515 mm up to 1,215 mm and a range of up to max. 50 m. Alternatively, you could go for the S5 single-beam safety light barriers with a maximum range of up to 8 m.

For area safeguarding, the Sentinel safety scanners from the manufacturer are also available within the product range, with which 2-dimensional protection and warning fields can be set up.

Additional accessories for safety sensors, for example in the form of test rods, deflection mirrors, laser pointers, and protective head brackets, can also be found within the Automation24 portfolio.

Finally, you can also purchase robust ultrasonic sensors from the position sensors category, with a metal enclosure, a 4 to 20 mA output and a range of 900 mm at Automation24.

A sensor tester available within the product range for the testing of the output signal of binary sensors rounds off the product range.
